THE REVIEW

In Germany recently they have been getting serious... the typical electronic sound they adopt in those parts has attracted the enthusiasm of many thanks to a dense network of word of mouth that continues to expand.

The year 2002 offers us, in addition to Notwist, Tarwater, proponents of a unique way of writing music. Insistent melodies on the same two or three notes, pleasantly sounding little guitars, a deep, solemn voice, and electronic arrangements that we often don't even notice as they are so well integrated with the rest.

There's always the artist's touch that intervenes on otherwise banal melodies. And despite the meticulous work of Tarwater, what appears to the listener are twelve simple and ingenious tracks, which is exactly what we always ask of a record.

This swaying rhythm, after sleepless nights, has managed to hypnotize me, to take me somewhere else, though I don't know where... perhaps to the (I imagine desolate) planet of these ramshackle aliens immortalized on the cover, a place where there's little left to do but listen to these ballads in the background, often sweet, sometimes bitter, yet always engaging.
