Tapesfromtheloop is a solo project
performed and produced by William Buscicchio, bassist
and composer from Lecce.
In his experiences, he has previously composed for bands such as Playontape
(New Wave-Post Punk) and O-Side (Brit-Pop).

"A Dark Place" is the second album of the Salento artist, who, after the debut of "Soundrafts Collection" dated May 4, 2024, an LP that received great feedback in streaming mainly in the USA, Canada, Germany, and France. The new release "A Dark Place" will be published again on all digital stores from April 1, 2025. The album is entirely performed and produced by William Buscicchio alias tapesfromtheloop.

The first track "Twilight" strongly recalls the dark and gloomy atmosphere of the album cover, the sounds of The Cure's "Disintegration" and at times of Depeche Mode's "Black Celebration"; "Apnea" is the only song that features lyrics, even if filtered by the Vocoder, here the sounds become more claustrophobic and it seems like perceiving the sounds of an ocean abyss among synthetic arpeggios and modular guitars. "Funeral Anthem" sounds like a funeral march driven by a splendid drum machine guiding through strings, synths, and reverse guitars; "A Dark Place" the fourth track that gives the album its title recalls horror atmospheres and the '80s sounds of John Carpenter; "Arcade Lullaby" represents a brief moment of quiet until reaching "Lost Horizon" and "Rebel Moon," the darkest rock tracks on the album with sounds closer to bands like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Boxer Rebellion. "Ghosts" is the last track of the album: gentle sighs accompanied by an acoustic guitar open into a Floydian and romantic ballad that closes a brave and determined album.

In conclusion, "A Dark Place" represents an excellent experimental album, recommended for those who love small soundtracks, fans of Gothic bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode, lovers of more intimate music by bands like Air, Radiohead. An album indicated for those who feel more at ease in the dark, gloomy and at times Horror atmospheres of artists like John Carpenter and John Murphy.

Recommended listening at dusk!
