TANGERINE DREAM-Quantum Gate
After the death of Edgar Froese, I didn't believe anything good could come out again.
In the past, with the departure of Peter Baumann first and then Chris Franke, I had already lost interest in this group, which has contributed so much to music, paving the way for the following decades. With the death of their founder Edgar Froese, many, including myself, thought that the name TD would fade into oblivion, especially considering the latest works produced.
Then comes this posthumous album. Posthumous in the sense that Froese's hand is still present, even if only in sketches, ideas thrown in for a future work that he would never complete. A lineup perhaps only well-rehearsed in concert, led by Thorsten Quaeschning, with TD since 2005, manages to produce something that harks back to the old glories that I would personally relate to the Virgin period.
A work I listened to with some bias upon its release and am now replaying almost repeatedly for a few days as I await the monumental box set In The Search of Hades.
Excellent album, with some lightness scattered among the grooves, but almost not to be missed.
