The Profile

Take That are a British pop group formed in Manchester in 1990. The original lineup was Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen, and Robbie Williams. They scored major success in the 1990s, disbanded in 1996, reunited in 2005, and have continued with hit albums and tours, with Williams rejoining for the 2010 Progress era.

Managed by Nigel Martin-Smith, Take That became one of the UK’s most successful pop acts with multiple No.1 singles including Pray, Relight My Fire, Back for Good, and Never Forget. Gary Barlow is the principal songwriter. The band split in 1996 and reformed in 2005, releasing successful albums such as Beautiful World, The Circus, and Progress; Robbie Williams rejoined for Progress and its tour.

Six DeBaser reviews chart Take That’s arc from shaky debut to chart-dominating Everything Changes, the global moment of Back for Good, and a polished reunion with The Circus. Critics weigh nostalgia against dance-pop fluff, praise Barlow’s writing, and note the Robbie factor. Overall: uneven early, big hits in the middle, confident later.
