The Cinderella of "The madcap laughs"...or maybe just a maiden with a squirrel on her head...
"Yammi yam yum yum" Syd says at a certain point...and I like it because I'm a bit silly...
oh I know, it's really a tossed-off song...and it's a shame...but in a picture as big as a ceiling, you can fit anything...
and they fit quite well, the rotten city, the girl you held tight...and a colonel with gloves...and Tom who is underground, and Henrietta who gets torn to pieces...
and a letter to write...even if it's a discordant letter...
there could have been "Opel" in madcap...there could have been "Silas lang"...instead there is "If it’s in you"...

yes, I might be silly, but to me the last five seconds of strumming that close the song possess an absolute grace, the kind where a kind of magical uncertainty shines for a moment...
