SWINGROWERS - Outsidein
(Freshly Squeezed Music)
Four years after the release of their second work, Remote, the Swingrowers return to the scene with Outsidein, an album where reinterpretations of classic/vintage swing and jazz sounds are catapulted into the technological storm of the twenty-first century.
But who are the Swingrowers?
The group was born from an idea by Roberto Costa, Loredana Grimaudo, Alessio Costagliola, and Ciro Pusateri.
In 2012, they released their first album Pronunced Swing Grow'ers with Freshly Squeezed and, in the same year, they won the award for Best Global Newcomer in the "Electro Swing People Favorite 2011" competition.
Since then, their ascent began; they shared the stage with Parov Stelar, Caravan Palace, and Chinese Man during their tours in Europe, performing in numerous renowned venues such as: the Alcatraz in Milan; the Koko, the Village Underground, and the Brixton Jamm in London; the Java and the Machine du Moulin Rouge in Paris; the Estrada Theatre and the Red Club in Moscow; and many others.
In April 2013, they headlined their first U.S. tour and in 2014 released their second work: Remote.
In April 2016, they returned to North America for another tour, and the following year they reached Asia with five dates in India and two at the Blue Note in Tokyo.
Finally, in February of this year, their third studio album, Outsidein, was released, multifaceted in sound but consistently adhering to the proposed style guidelines.
The album ranges from tracks where electro bases dominate, featuring booming bass, synths, and "robotic" vocal effects, like Selfie Face, My Mood, and Tit for Tat, to dustier and more opaque pieces, strongly jazz-oriented, like Follow Me or No Strings Attached.
All of this is connected by a very direct and engaging expressive style.
In conclusion, a well-crafted and distinctive album, loaded with both vocal and instrumental technique.
