I conclude my three days of full immersion in DeBaser and return to work. I thank DeBaser for publishing all my reviews (I still have hopes for the publication of the John Peel session of the Ruts). I also had a couple of annoyances, but I've already forgotten them. In short, I'm unplugging for a bit, but I will do my best to become a "diver" myself (damned currency).
I want to remind you of this great album by the "Swervedriver," a collection of the best of their production plus the best EPs and some excellent unreleased tracks. They are the best Shoegaze band I know (but it’s not like I've listened to absolutely everything that’s listenable) and they're centered around the Franklin brothers from Oxford, with deep similarities to the more famous brothers from "Jesus and Mary Chain." The Shoegaze of the Swervedriver has always intrigued me more than many other Shoe bands because it's permeated with "sixties" echoes (listen to "The Birds"). Here, even the tracks from the albums sound better thanks to the remixing.
The 33 songs are all of high quality. And I also think that of all the shoegaze, this is the one that will withstand the test of time the best. In fact, I no longer listen to Jesus and Mary Chain (and to think I wore out "Automatic" by playing it so much), and Bloody Valentine, not even worth mentioning, too dated. But this collection by Swervedriver released in 2005 still sounds great. What rating do you give a CD that you listen to a dozen times? 4? 5? You decide.
Salut. Alex
