Two soldiers, nameless, are thrown into one of the many cells of Communist Russia. The reason? Unknown. One of them, the bigger and bearded one, shows signs of mental imbalance from the very first moments. He is loquacious, decidedly corpulent (as I already mentioned), and has the annoying habit of telling stories about sex and coprophilia. The other soldier, apparently normal, can't stand the petulant cellmate. After some arguments, finally, the big guy decides to shut up, while the one we've termed "normal" dozes off in exhaustion. He should have never done that! Upon waking, he finds the cell filthy with crap and is handed by the unfortunate chatterbox...nothing less than a turd on a plate! A fierce fight breaks out. Insults, screams, death threats, and more. Yet, it is the "normal" soldier who gets punished. He is taken out and made to clean the toilets with a fork.
Is that all? Not a chance! The corpulent (ex) soldier, meanwhile, is first interrogated and then flogged by a sadistic prison guard. Next, the two inmates find themselves in a dark and sinister place. It is the beginning of the end. Again, exhausting interrogations about war and naval flotillas. Followed by sexual abuses and all kinds of humiliations. The "normal" guy, at a certain point, begins to change. With blind fury, he kills the guard, guts him and sodomizes him, and finally, with inhuman force, pulls out his innards. He is no longer a normal person, you would have figured it out by now. He too has touched the darkest and most hidden depths of the psyche. He too has undergone a horrendous mutation. Having completed the slaughter, he dies. It is unclear whether by suicide or from the beatings previously received. The big guy, desperate, whimpers and begs him to wake up...but there's nothing that can be done. Dead, kaputt!
The ending, however, borders on the absurd. Another member of the prison, who occasionally appears to complain about his own job, approaches the survivor with a uniform and promises wonderful things for the future. Too bad, though, that this nutcase also chooses to take his life with a noose. Only the fat guy survives? Yes! And he craps on the corpse of the hanged man.
This movie sucks.
It aims to denounce the "dark times" characteristic of the Soviet regime but, in the end, it is just a pretext to display a useless and repugnant repertoire of perversions and "gore" scenes. Filmed with a handheld camera in very low quality. We can consider it the progenitor of movies as crude as they are pointless, like "Snuff 102" or "August Underground," but nothing more! Stay away.
