It can be said: appearances are deceiving!
Looking at the cover, what can you imagine? A boring and obsessive group. The album titles are in strict numerical order, as are the tracks. The cover states when the album was recorded, where, and by whom. It's all written in small, white font. The background is monochrome, in this case gray! Simply monotonous. Unfortunately, this is true for all their works. We are far from those original covers, where the name of the work or who composed it wasn't written. (just to give an example, "Atom Heart Mother" by Pink Floyd) Listening to it, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Supersilent is a Norwegian jazz ensemble. Their uniqueness lies precisely in the tracks. The players don't do any preliminary work, there are no arrangements after the studio work. Everything is improvised and recorded live. It's something incredible, absolutely extraordinary. This sixth work, absolutely one of the best, stands out for a decidedly more electronic tone; in "6.1" this is very noticeable. The great stroke of genius is without a doubt "6.3", whose duration exceeds thirteen minutes. Synthesizer and drums continuously alter their contribution to the song, making it astonishing: an extraordinary improvisational work. The second part is slightly less impressive than the first but is appreciable. The album concludes excellently, "6.6" proves to be a great track.
Supersilent are excellent, extremely original and creative. Those who are not familiar with them can start right with "6". The ideal way to get to know this group and their style. How can I define them? An avant-garde of today's music!
