LA RECENSIONE

After introducing themselves to the general public with a punk-rock debut like "Vices" (later also offered in a more "streamlined" version in terms of tracklist in an acoustic key), the Ravenna-based Sunset Radio return with "All The Colors Behind You." This work, graphically speaking, might suggest punk-rock given the traditional flashes on the cover, but as the saying goes, "the clothes don't make the monk" is always relevant, especially in music. The eleven tracks on the album are indeed significantly different in style from their predecessors in many ways, primarily in the genre offered, which today we might define as a mix between pop-punk and the alternative rock that is prevalent nowadays. Secondly, it must be admitted that, qualitatively speaking, in this new work Sunset Radio have shown great maturation, managing to complete an album without falling into banality or, even worse, boredom. Each track is a precise snapshot of what these musicians have to tell us, and they do it in an engaging manner, without becoming tedious even when the tones turn more somber. An approach that convinces and that also has a precise line musically, with that mix of melodic hardcore and pop-punk that succeeds in keeping the listener always "on track." The single "My Everything" is the calling card of "All The Colors Behind You," an album that might appeal to those who have bands like No Use For A Name, State Champs, Real Friends, and New Found Glory as their reference points.
