THE REVIEW

Sum 41 were and will remain one of the most influential punk rock or rather pop punk bands, like it or not, it’s objective. Musical evolution is part of the maturation process of EVERY band, which can be a pro or con, obviously. Underclass Hero doesn’t quite match up with Fat Lip or In Too Deep, starting from the lyrics; in a word, I’d define it as anarchic. Walking Disaster, if I were to exaggerate, is the anthem of all those teenagers who grew up during that period, while Speak of the Devil is one of the best tracks of the album in my opinion. Best of Me, So Long Goodbye, Look at Me, and With Me are a bit commercial, ballads that you can either like or not, oh well! But Poubelle is an interlude just like Introduction of Destruction in All Killer No Filler. The album is definitely less rough than Does This Look Infected; personally, I like it. Punk rock or whatever you want to call it is a carefree genre, it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and what I’ve said reflects the early Sum 41 just like Blink 182, who have clearly declined after Tom left the band. Most of the comments are not relevant to the album, the usual keyboard warriors, sterile, I’d add, capable of writing “heeee but they don’t like them.”

A regression in my opinion without precedent, a return to the high school airs that had characterized them in the early years of their career.

I feel like saying one thing: DAVE PLEASE, COME BACK!!

Underclass Hero could be considered the perfect successor to another album by the band, namely 'All Killer No Filler.'

The use of keyboards appears in multiple parts, at times enriching the pieces, but not always convincing.

From the cover, we already notice the pseudo-emo colors they took from Avril Lavigne, God's mistake and the dear wife of frontman Whibley.

I recommend listening to the CD while reading the review, it works. You'll take a satisfying dump afterward... Goodbye Sum 41 and good luck Brown Brigade!
