The important thing in life is to be consistent, and to do it from the start.
Sugarfree have never proclaimed themselves as champions of anything, they admit (as if it were a fault!) to making pop music. So let's make peace with it. Those looking for another indie rock'n'roll group should steer clear. Those seeking honest emotions and well-crafted pop songs, follow me.
The Catania-based Sugarfree offer 12 simple and in some cases very moving songs, starting with Cleptomania, which even grandmothers now know. The best tracks of the album follow: Briciola Di Te and especially Terra E Cielo, beautiful, touching, epic. Then there is the second single Cromosoma, not a masterpiece, but engaging and with a lively lyric. Very beautiful is also Particolare. So, just to clarify, the songs revolve a bit within the universe of Ligabue's Fuori Come Va?. The tracks that follow might be a bit repetitive and not very original, but among them shines Tu Sei Tutto Per Me and Sei Così. There is also time for guitar pedals and laid-back vibes in Tutto.
An honest and enjoyable album. However, for some, it might be a limitation...
