Sublime were an American band from Long Beach, California, known for blending ska, punk, reggae and hip hop. Led by singer-guitarist Brad Nowell, they released influential records including 40oz. To Freedom (1992), Robbin' the Hood (1994) and the self-titled Sublime (1996).

Formed in 1988 in Long Beach, California. Core members included Bradley "Brad" Nowell (vocals, guitar), Eric Wilson (bass) and Bud Gaugh (drums). Brad Nowell died of an overdose in 1996; the band disbanded after his death. Their style and success defined aspects of the 1990s California ska/punk/reggae crossover.

Three DeBaser reviews celebrate Sublime's hybrid of ska, punk, reggae and hip hop, highlighting their three key albums. Critics stress Brad Nowell's distinctive voice and the band's lived-in California sound. The overall reception is admiring and nostalgic.
