Rating: What exactly is Indietronica? Is it perhaps a way of life, like punk? Why have so many artists and listeners become passionate about this genre in recent years?
As we ponder this, pearls upon pearls settle in the depths of the musical underground at the risk of going unnoticed. One of these is the Styrofoam album, from Belgium, but adopted by Morr Music, a German label that is a queen of this sound (among others, I recall Lali Puna, Tied & Tickled Trio).Everything is based on the delicacy of the sound, nothing is left to chance, the author demonstrates a command of the computer equal to that of Martin Gretschmann, aka Console, electronic man of the Notwist. The structure of the eight songs is post-rock in style, but the melodies are worthy of a great songwriter, and the emotional impact is sublime from the first listen. The guy cannot get away from certain references (the usual suspects, alternately Notwist, Tarwater, Pulseprogramming, Schneider TM), but the work is entirely his own creation.
Eight touching songs, one alone is worth the purchase. It's called "It Wouldn't Change A Thing" and it cannot be described, only listened to. Small sounds that make the difference.
