Who said that metal is the devil's music?
Perhaps most of it is, but the metal of these four Californians seems to have nothing to do with the devil; on the contrary, it's the opposite! This band is the leading exponent of "Christian Metal." You might be wondering: what does metal have to do with Christianity? And I reply: listen to this album and you'll change your mind immediately!
Indeed, Stryper is the only band that so well combines Christian faith with metal, giving rise to a musical genre known as "White Metal" or "Christian Metal," which is a strictly niche genre and not for the masses because most people don't understand a thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and maybe it's better that way...)
Stryper was formed in 1984 in Los Angeles and they have a distinctive look: everything in Yellow and Black (their outfits, instruments, etc.). On drums, there's ROBERT SWEET (the real driving force of the band), on lead guitar, there's OZ FOX, who along with bassist TIM GAINES vocally accompanies singer/guitarist MICHAEL SWEET with a truly unique and stellar voice. Since 1984, they've released increasingly interesting albums like "Soldiers Under Command" or "To Hell With The Devil," but in 1991 they released their compilation: "Can't Stop The Rock," in which they've put together their best tracks to create their representative album.
This album is truly goosebump-inducing: it ranges from metal tracks with spine-chilling riffs like "Soldiers Under Command," "Free," and "Always There For You" to unforgettable ballads that touch the heart like "Honestly" and "Together As One."
I recommend this CD to everyone, especially to those who are approaching "WHITE METAL" for the first time, because this album is the perfect example of it. Come on!!! What are you waiting for??!! Hurry and get it!!!!!!!!!!!
IN GOD WE TRUST!
