Metalcore intransigence taken to the extreme; it's the abysmal calling card of the Americans Strife.
This is the second album, "In This Defiance," released in 1997 by Victory Records, a Chicago-based label known for producing bands of the caliber of Earth Crisis, Snapcase, and Integrity. All devoted to a "second generation" Hardcore always outrageous, violent, and extreme; adding to this non-fast tempos, but more exhausting and thoughtful. And the musical reference once again directs towards the unsurpassed masters Slayer.
The distance that separates Hardcore and Metal is nullified by Strife; steeped in Hardcore-Straight Edge ethics like few others.
Thirty spasmodic and lethal minutes; every verse is screamed, stretched to the limit, and slammed in the face with cynical heaviness.
The muted guitars lacerate, erecting an insurmountable sonic wall; the dry, squared, and near-saturation rhythm section magnifies the sense of total oppression created by these five fanatics.
Participating in the recordings are personalities who need no introduction: Igor Cavalera, Chino Moreno, Dino Cazares.
