Uh-oh, we are informed that this review also appears on Buong.it.
This "Asphalt" is a minimalist record, recorded directly without edits or overdubs during mixing… an experimentalism of improvisation converted into a somewhat romantic and sharp form of subdued rock that invokes glimpses of blues and country infected by the occasional use of found objects (belts, coins, keys, bottles, etc…).
This brave choice to give sound and voice to one’s instinctiveness, however, does not fully compensate for a certain vagueness and incompleteness that animates the listening at the end of the tracks… commendable the intention but perhaps so extreme as to be less incisive: I think in the long run I have in my hands a sort of reprise of some Pink Floyd-like ideas (the British band would have even liked to record an entire album using only extra-musical objects) but transposed in a (deliberately) incongruous way.
The recording itself turns out to be discontinuous, intertwining sound volumes that are at times acceptable and at times so subdued as to make attentive listening to the track difficult… a rough soul (also reflected in the packaging's graphics) that leaves in the heart the sensation of facing a whimsical child and a strummer who, with fake inexperience, hides creative plots worthy of someone who really knows how to pull it off!
