STONE TEMPLE PILOTS - Thank You cd-dvd edition

With this collection, the band with the most edgy rock attitude of the '90s wants to thank the fans and bid farewell to the scene. All that's left is to listen again to their best productions (Brendan O'Brien docet) ranging from 1992 with the grunge debut "Core" to 2001 with the bubble gum rock of "Shangi-La-Dee-Da". The four guys have STRANGELY proposed the lively unreleased track "All In The Suit That You Wear", but the precious gem they give us is attached to the first pressing of the album under Atlantic Records: a 3-HOUR DVD!!
The most die-hard kids should prepare themselves because here they will find a treasure of videoclips, live-reports, bootlegs, and a jaw-dropping photo section. In this charming disc surrounded by sunflowers, all the spotlights are on the artistic side of the band, without historical frills or glimpses of private affairs (for those, read novella 2000).

The much-talked-about Scott Weiland (now the voice of Velvet Revolver) already says a lot about himself in these songs. He is a character that evolves in image and artistic capability (the difference between the Scott in the live video of TRIPPIN'... and the one in the acoustic video of PLUSH is astonishing), yet maintains a personality.
The energy of the STP explodes in the nuances of the deLEO brothers (drums, guitar) and Eric Kretz (bass), who compose the psycho'60 rock of BIG BANG BABY (the video!) and LADY PICTURE SHOW. To these, they have added a bittersweet flavor with INTERSTATE LOVE SONG and the tube-pop of DAYS OF THE WEEK and SOUR GIRL. But the veiled anger of grunge is not missing from the first two tracks, which matures with a bit more opium in the chorus of TRIPPIN' ON A HOLE IN A PAPER HEART. Only the truly great leave the scene with style, and these people have style to spare. THANK YOU to you, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS.

drivin' faster in my car
falling farther from just what we are
smoke a cigarette and lie some more
these conversations kill
falling faster in my car

time to take her home
her dizzy head is conscience laden
time to take a ride
it leaves today no conversation
time to take her home
her dizzy head is conscience laden
time to wait too long
to wait too long
to wait too long

to much walkin', shoes worn thin
too much trippin' and my soul's worn thin
time to catch a ride
it leaves today, her name is what it means
to much walkin', shoe's worn thin

Chorus

Conversations kill
Conversations kill
Conversations kill

It is really a matter of affection... at this point, it becomes a bit difficult to conclude because it seems almost like having to forcibly drop a curtain.

Both [new tracks] equally highlight the band’s compositional talent.

Thank You is indeed the almost complete collection of all the singles of the San Diego band.

Among the many, too many collections on the market at this time, it seems the least trivial and sincerely the most honest.
