Formed around 1985 by Roope Latvala and Janne Joutsenniemi (initially as Cross of Iron), Stone moved from classic heavy metal toward speed/thrash and released a self-titled debut (1988) and No Anaesthesia! (1989). The band disbanded in 1991.

Signed to the Megamania label for early releases. Released the self-titled debut in 1988 and No Anaesthesia! in 1989; later albums include Colours and Emotional Playground. After the split, drummer Pekka Kasari later joined Amorphis and Roope Latvala went on to play with other bands, including a period as guitarist in Children Of Bodom.

A positive, detailed review of Stone's 1989 album No Anaesthesia!, highlighting technical thrash, neoclassical guitar work and strong production. The review places Stone in the context of the Finnish metal underground of the late 1980s. Notes the band's formation around 1985 and disbanding in 1991.
