THE REVIEW

...My God, so many memories this movie brings back...

This movie is my childhood. Since I was little, I have always loved dinosaurs (ever wondered where my nickname comes from?) and prehistory. When this movie came out, my dreams came true... I SAW REAL DINOSAURS!!!...Or so it seemed... Exactly, it seemed that way because they were so well made.

Spielberg has never spared expenses in his films, and here, in fact, he had a full-size robot T-Rex and other dinosaurs built, which today might seem like a joke, but back in the (not even that) distant 1993, it was no joke at all.

The movie is a continuous succession of adrenaline-filled scenes, breathtaking scenes, and suspenseful moments, all seasoned with the sublime music of maestro John Williams... Seriously, have you heard the music?! Simply wonderful (and I don’t even like the genre...), it blends perfectly with the scenes as if they are spontaneous; they depend on each other, they are one and the same. To be honest, reading the book a few years ago, I discovered that the movie wasn't as good as the book; for example, the rafting down the river chased by the T-Rex and other such scenes... In my opinion, they should have been included in the film, they would have made it much better. The sound effects are also very beautiful, both the technological ones (the roar of the T-Rex is nothing more than a mix of sounds from various animals) and the "homemade" ones (many of the raptor sounds are just Spielberg blowing into a bag).

The actors chosen by Spielberg aren't very famous, but they remain great actors nonetheless (Jeff Goldblum's performance as DR. Malcolm is outstanding). Upon release, the film grossed 900 million dollars. Well damn... I can’t even imagine such a figure, and it won three Oscars: best visual effects, best sound effects, and best sound.

Sorry if I haven’t told you the plot, but I think everyone knows it by now, and sorry if I let myself get carried away with enthusiasm here and there, but this film makes me want to be a kid again (not that I’m a complete adult now).

The scenes with the brachiosaurus... and the t-rex emerging from the pen like a demon from hell... those are masterful.

Rewatching certain films is a masochistic operation, a scalpel in the heart and head.
