Stephen Stills is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Dallas, Texas. He was a founding member of Buffalo Springfield and of Crosby, Stills & Nash (and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young) and is known for his solo albums and wide-ranging collaborations.

Reviews and public records note collaborations and guest appearances with artists such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, Billy Preston, Judy Collins, Jimmy Page, Bernie Leadon, Chris Hillman and Mike Finnigan. 'Just Roll Tape' contains 1968 demos recorded April 26, 1968 and released decades later; Stills has been described as stylistically versatile, spanning country, R&B, rock, reggae and blues.

Reviews praise Stills's guitar work, stylistic range (rock, country, R&B, blues) and the urgency of albums like 2. Early demos (Just Roll Tape) and his 1970 solo debut are highlighted. Later efforts show stylistic shifts but retain standout tracks and notable collaborations.

For:Fans of classic rock, 60s-70s folk-rock, and guitar aficionados.

The Texan Stephen Stills has always been my favorite of the now-defunct supranational quartet shared with Californian Crosby, Englishman Nash, and Canadian Young.

Stephen Stills is indeed a somewhat peculiar case. Despite being one of the greatest talents in American songwriting, he gave his best in the short span of six or seven years, let's say from 1966 to 1972, from the first album with the Buffalo Springfield to the first of Manassas.
