One cannot say that the current Slam scene does much honor to Brutal Death Metal. Indeed, many bands decide to take this (simple) path, producing trivial, anonymous works recorded in a plasticky way. This is certainly not the case for the Baresi Stench Of Dismemberment, one of the few Italian Brutal bands that are struggling to support our scarce Italian scene.

The band in question offers a Guttural Brutal Death Slam heavily influenced by the Texans Devourment. The drum rhythms and the tuning of guitars and bass are a clear example of how the band was inspired by the works of the famous American group to produce this ep, "Cannibalistic Urge." The band demonstrates good technical preparation, while the singer Diego delivers excellent filthy growls. The production is what I consider most suitable for albums of this genre, with a full-bodied guitar sound and a distorted and harsh bass sound, where the drums do not take a back seat but do not overwhelm the other instruments. The ep consists of 5 songs very homogenous in sound, with classic slam rhythms transitioning from pounding speed outbursts to dirty, heavy, oppressive slowdowns. The guitarist makes extensive use of palm muting and harmonics, as the old school dictates, while the bass performs outstanding work, with surprising speed and touch. The drummer mainly executes high-speed blast beats or slower double bass and cymbal sections.

The band recorded the ep under the Premated Records label, owned by the Italians Vomit The Soul, which has also signed several foreign bands like the excellent Degrade. This ep cannot certainly be considered a masterpiece, as it presents nothing original or perfect, yet it remains an excellent ep, and I, as an Italian brutal enthusiast, fully support the band, support Italian Brutality!
