After World War II and the Cold War of the '80s, it seems that another great war, more insidious and hidden, has begun, unbeknownst to us, in our everyday lives: the war for control of the Food Market and the consequent management of the planet's Power and Resources.
Without us noticing, slowly and inexorably, on our tables, in our restaurants, and in supermarkets, we daily find displayed an alarming amount of foods stuffed with poisons and counterfeited with chemical components whose side effects on our body we often do not know. Intoxicated foods, therefore, mixed with chemical colorants or highly harmful substances to our bodies, which are, most of the time, the cause of serious pathogenic diseases, immune deficiency, and often confirmed tumors (in an unofficial way, of course).
This "Quattro sberle in padella" (Four Hits in the Pan) curated by Stefano Canazzi and Stefano Apuzzo (Ediz. Stampa Alternativa, 150 pages, € 9.00), with a preface by Beppe Grillo, is a sort of "manual/dictionary" from A for Acqua (Water) to Z for zolfo (Sulfur), which suggests how to attempt to contain this seemingly innocuous problem of food pollution now spreading like a virus and explains what (complete with names and brands) the poisonous agents are, the foods at risk, those forbidden as well as those shamelessly tolerated or admitted by state laws.
Thus, one discovers the shenanigans of the "mafietta" of mineral waters pumped or bottled suspiciously, the tricks more or less legal to fill various sodas usually consumed in Italian households with junk, the damage caused by the regular intake of cow's milk, the squalor in which chickens live that we consume in various fast food & C., how cold cuts are stuffed, atomic particles present in certain foods... to discover, in short, WHY ("strangely") in recent years tumors and certain diseases of dubious origin have increased and how, with a few healthy rules, one could avoid worsening certain situations.
Also interesting is the comparative and summary table at the end of the booklet, like a "memorandum" for every need.
In short. These "Four Hits" seem to be given by a sort of loving parent who truly cares for us and wants to say: inform yourselves before stuffing yourselves with foods whose origin or processing you don't know. Learn to better understand the Laws that regulate the jungle of the food sector in Italy, understand where the abuses are, read the ingredients written on the labels.
A book of Stoic Civil Commitment and duty. A book that is useful and, at the same time, disturbing. Disturbing because it throws in our face once again, the awareness of knowing what kind of sick world we are in and how certain multinationals or power centers are willing to do anything and at any cost (including certain fake/influences planned to create panic among the population), just to achieve their damn economic results.
Anyway, beyond any of my sterile polemics (which risk appearing as yet another generalized outburst in the sea of indifference), I believe it is always preferable to know more about everything that surrounds us rather than live like ostriches. Don't you agree?
