THE REVIEW

How much do these guys make me laugh? They perfectly play the part of '80s metalheads: wigs, leather jackets, zebra boots, and a hefty dose of irony.

Steel Panther (originally known as Danger Kitty, Metal Shop, or Metal Skool) was born in 2000 as a tribute band of that genre, defined as hair metal, and quickly gained appreciation, acquiring a certain popularity in Hollywood circles. Their shows are fiery and fun (you'll find some live videos on YouTube), and they managed to transform from a tribute band of Guns, Motley Crue, Skid Row, etc., into a real band over the years, officially debuting in 2009 with this "Feel The Steel".

The recipe is simple: take some famous melodies, mix them with sex-based lyrics and remarkable technical skills, and you get Steel Panther.

In each track, you can more or less find a "homage" to past bands, the most obvious being in: "Party All Day", intro and solo of "Living On A Prayer"; and "Girl From Oklahoma", a hilarious reinterpretation of "More Than Words". The rest are strictly hard rock tracks ("Death To All But Metal", "Asian Hooker", "Eyes Of A Panther" or "Hell's On Fire"); a seemingly romantic ballad ("Community Property"), where love is viewed very openly, and two power ballads ("Fat Girl" and "Stripper Girl") where the title says it all.

They ironically define themselves as a hair metal band that didn't make it in the '80s, but they can easily be considered a parody band that good-naturedly revives today's "sex, drugs, and rock & roll" style, emphasizing the sex side. (Check out the official videos of "Death All But All Metal" and "Community Property").

They should be taken for what they are, just four crazy lunatics, without expecting anything more. However, I'm sure listening to them and watching the videos will leave a smile on your face, how much do we bet?

Ps: perfect for parties and hookups :)
