Steamhammer is an English blues‑rock band formed in the late 1960s, known for blending blues with progressive and acid guitar elements. Their last studio album, Speech (released early 1972), was completed while drummer Mick Bradley was dying; Bradley died before its release.

The band blended blues and progressive/acid guitar elements and found a receptive audience in Northern Europe (notably Germany). Speech was released in early 1972, was poorly received by critics at the time, and was reissued by Akarma Records in 2003. Mick Bradley died of leukemia during the album's mixing; Speech is considered the band's final album.

A 2004 DeBaser review praises Steamhammer's last album Speech (released early 1972) for its long-form, blues‑rooted progressive pieces and thanks Akarma Records for the 2003 reissue. The review highlights a 23-minute opener (Penumbra), two other long tracks, and notes drummer Mick Bradley died during mixing. The reviewer recommends the record to risk‑taking listeners and collectors.

For:Fans of 1970s blues-rock and progressive/blues fusion; collectors of obscure reissues; listeners who enjoy extended tracks.
