Welcome to my review today of an album that dates back to last winter.
Since, in my opinion (and not only mine), the review that already exists on this CD is not exhaustive enough or, in any case, does not clearly convey what its reviewer wanted to say apart from that it is awesome, I would like to personally introduce my perspective.
It is quite awesome indeed, but previous works are there, they exist, and they testify that the path taken is little or almost none. The energy is the usual. The one with which Static-x made themselves noticed with their distorted sounds well-matched by a sufficiently relevant electronic background.
By now, I would say it's time for them to change something, although in the sound of this album, it hints at a band orientation towards the direction of different 'core types. In my opinion, mentioning the songs seems rather superfluous as it is their usual sound, even though I can't find a gem here as was the case in the past. Only one song stands out and is slightly above the average, and not coincidentally, it is the one that gives the album its name "Start a war" which turns out to be quite engaging even though it's short.
Thus, for anyone who knows them, they already know what the album is made of, while for those who have never heard of them, it would be better to listen to that masterpiece that was and still is "Wysconsin Death Trip" or "Shadow zone," which in my opinion stands a notch above this latest work of theirs.
The album flows as violently as few others in its genre, with influences from Pantera and Slayer in the riffs, and vocally reminiscent of Sepultura.
This album is certainly not a masterpiece, but it’s a fusion of the trash metal of Shadow Zone and the brutal death of Wisconsin Death Trip—a good album overall.
'Start A War' is truly a gem to cherish, I will never get tired of listening to it.
'Start A War' is damn fun, honest as it reveals its nature right away with a futurist sheen that is extremely pleasant.
