I know! There is very little to write about such a project. Cacophony and pain: these two words are more than sufficient!
Yet, something can be added when listening to this release. Perhaps because of some form of delirium or perhaps simply stunned in front of this holocaustic noise.
Let's start with the moniker: Stalaggh, alas, brings to mind a very ugly period of the century just passed. But don't be fooled by the usual appearances. This is not a neo-Nazi group or a group advocating some crazy, as much as stupid, "supremacist" ideal. The proof of what I just wrote, in fact, is provided by the new name of the combo: Gulaggh.
Who is hidden behind these disturbing names? It is not possible to say with precision. According to some, it is actually a psychopathic alliance between industrial and black metal German musicians. According to others, however, it is the work of a madman (whose name, honestly, I don't remember) who decided to end his short life crashing a car into a wall. After, according to legend, fatally stabbing his mother.
Needless to say, I believe the first version! The second one, besides being in poor taste, appears extremely picturesque and blatantly sensationalistic.
But what will you hear in this "Projekt Misanthropia"? Only screams, horrible noises, animalistic sounds and cries of pain. A full thirty-five minutes dedicated to such an infernal ordeal. Comparisons? Perhaps a synthesis between Merzbow’s white noise and the more experimental expressions of certain Black Metal.
The German lager like the Soviet gulag: contemporary slaughterhouses that, together with the atomic bomb and the prisons of Guantanamo, well represent the animalistic sadism still alive and well in so-called human nature. What else is there to add?
