LA RECENSIONE

"Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space" was my remedy. "Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space" is one of those addictive medicines. A painkiller for the mind that, dose after dose, penetrates every cell of your body. It possesses you. It transforms you.

Dependence.

Need to taste its flavor.

Drug.

There are no contraindications. Except for one... devastating: this album reminds me of one of the most difficult moments of my life.

Pleasure always has a hint of pain. It is inevitable. And perhaps it is that small pain that gives more meaning to pleasure...

"Sweet heart, sweet light" is the new medicine for the spirit by Dr. Jason Pierce. A work that takes us into a new space. We no longer float in the vast nothingness that envelops the earth. We no longer slide between the planets of the cosmos. Now the planets are atoms. Atoms of a space we know perfectly. Intimate. Tiny. A bonsai world.

It’s space rock that cannot, and does not want to, overcome the force of gravity.

Jason Pierce has painted new soundscapes. More earthly. Helium balloons, anchored to blades of grass ("Little girl"), branches ("Too late"), buildings ("Mary"). Or even higher, towards the skies of psychedelia ("Headin' for the top now", "I am what I am"), where one glimpses the galaxies of "Ladies and gentlemen...".

A melodic writing that oozes the darkest Beatles. "Freedom" is a "Let it be" with the sleepy intimacy of Sparklehorse. "Life is a problem" is a prayer that purifies your soul. And nothing else is needed.

Ladies and gentlemen... welcome to a new space...

more similar to the human heart than the universe...

"So long pretty thing" leaves us trapped forever in the atmosphere...

And it feels so good...
