THE REVIEW

Not many musicians can move and disturb me like Spiritualized, a creation born from the ashes of Spacemen 3 by the visionary Jason Pierce. They stimulate my sensitivity, inducing me to daydream between sensations of tender feelings and poignant enchantment. And it has been a full five years since the beautiful "Amazing Grace" when they returned in 2008 to take me by the hand, accompanying me on a journey of hope and divine gratitude.
During this long interval, Jason Pierce was struck by a severe pneumonia, and this difficult experience inevitably influenced the creation of "Songs In A&E" (A&E: Accident & Emergency), which had already been sketched out before the illness.

The album mainly unfolds with gentle, introspective, and delicate ballads, sometimes dark, at other times so clear and clean as to seem like crystal. Through gospel choirs, bucolic country-folk melodies, and dreamy nursery rhymes, the band provides us with pleasant and restless moments, sudden bursts of adrenaline between furious drum rolls and acidic and hypnotic guitar riffs that bring back the splendor of "Ladies And Gentlemen, We're Floating In Space." All of this is richly enhanced by harmonious and well-crafted orchestral arrangements.

"Songs In A&E" exudes a painful charm that is difficult to elude. When you listen to it, you find yourself wrapped in a warmth made of subtle sadness, compassion, and love.
Twilight and nostalgic.
