A Bavarian quintet formed from a hippie commune around Munich; first public appearances in 1972 and a live album (Bayern-Rock) published in 1976. Politicized ensemble singing in a peculiar Bavarian dialect and using folk instrumentation.

Associated with April Records and the Schneeball label. Bassist and singer Florian Laber is noted in the context of the band and had links to Siloah and participations with Embryo (information present in contemporary reviews).

Bayern-Rock is a 1976 live document by Bavarian quintet Sparifankal, sung in an archaic Bavarian dialect and rooted in folk instrumentation. Challenging at first, the album rewards patient listening with proto-punk energy and krautrock affinities. It was released via April Records / Schneeball and stands as a distinctive piece of the German underground.

For:Fans of krautrock, German underground and experimental folk; collectors of 1970s live albums.

The first album produced by April is this unknown "Bayern-Rock" by the equally unknown band Sparifankal, a Bavarian quintet with a folk past.
