THE REVIEW

2015 Albums: Recovery Part.

Gargantua is deep and leaves a void in the heart, Gargantua sounds anachronistic but it doesn't matter, Gargantua waves goodbye and silently slips away. The album in question is a heap of feels, it's as if Stephin Merritt (The Magnetic Fields) brought distortions into his muffled and calm world, bringing fog into the fog. Besides the New York references, you can clearly hear generous doses of Pavement and Yo La Tengo (the Painful era); so call it whatever you want: bedroom pop, indie pop, indie rock, lo-fi, it's certainly what you need. The songs are all on the same level, with two absolute peaks: Voyager 2, Gargantua
