THE REVIEW

A little disc that must be described with few words.

Two words that definitely have little to do with these songs, Summer and Jesus.

Expressive urgency that takes your breath away, close to the new dark fog coming from Northern Europe.

Young people who have listened to a lot of Post Punk, and I suppose quite a bit of Punk.

Take the claustrophobia of early Joy Division, just to give some coordinates, combine it with the palpable anger of our times, lock some kids wanting to vent their malaise in a studio, record their angry outburst in lo-fi: SOVIET SOVIET.

Summary by Bot

Soviet Soviet’s album Summer, Jesus captures raw emotional urgency influenced by post-punk and punk roots. The band's music evokes early Joy Division's claustrophobia while channeling modern social frustrations. Recorded with lo-fi aesthetics, it is a powerful, young artistic outburst full of palpable anger and expressive intensity.
