Soviet propaganda

Sculptor, Painter or Photographer

State-sponsored propaganda produced in the Soviet Union, notably posters and other visual media used to promote Soviet ideology, mobilize citizens, and shape public opinion from 1917 to 1991.

Soviet propaganda made extensive use of posters, film, print and radio to promote industrialization, collectivization, wartime morale and state ideology. Common motifs included heroism, sacrifice, the Motherland, industrial progress and leadership. During World War II (the Great Patriotic War) posters were used to mobilize civilians and soldiers, encourage production, and sustain morale.

Reviews focus on a Moscow 1941 poster, Otctonm Mockby!, and its role in mobilizing citizens. They highlight patriotism and sacrifice while criticising state repression (NKVD, Stalin). The writing mixes historical description with moral judgement.
