It's 06:25 in the morning, what the hell am I doing in front of a screen writing crap about a single track from a band that died, was buried, and resurrected after over ten years for having nothing more to say? Once again? But wasn't "Down On The Upside" the last one? You swore... Damned... Maybe you did it for me, tell the truth, have the courage of your actions, it's not because rrrruock is dying slowly, not even a question of money (though I don't know in what condition Sheperd and Thayil are in, judging by this video, 'nsomma..)... You thought of the reunion because the dumbest fan on this earth (which would be me, by the way) never had the chance to see you live.

Thanks, I'm touched..

Now it's 06:30, five minutes of my life wasted writing 4 lines of bullshit.. Oh well.. I'm a jolly morning jester, exactly one day from my birthday.. 36, I say, 36 years wasted straining my vocal cords hoping to reach the glorious, powerful, devastating, and terrifying highs of a "Badmotorfinger", or rather "Louder Than Love" (let's just forget this one..), trying to modulate my voice to achieve the wonderfully fluctuating tones of "Superunknown", but not so wasted..

The '90s have stayed with me and they won’t ever leave, it's like the bracelet you get for communion or the necklace from confirmation, those will be with you forever, and so it is with Soundgarden for me.. Never will I tire of listening to them.. When cyberprogstonerdeathbrutalalternativegrindpophardmuffarruockmetal and its variants dominate the charts in 2054, at 80 years old, trembling, hunched, and with a cane, I won't tire of screaming to the world "In The Jesus Christ Pose!!!, damn it!" and to hell with the rest..

Why am I saying all this to you at 06:39 on any given August morning of any damn year? Simple.. Because on this morning accompanied by the cheerful chirping of sparrows and various birds announcing "good morning!" to the world, I feel re-captivated by the magic that that so immediate, disruptive, no-frills music, with various twists, straight to the point that slaps you in the face leaving you happily dazed, gave me years ago, just when I opened an email announcing the release of a new single from my champions of monolithic hard rock riffs and the stentorian scream of megalopolises.

New Garden single? Stentorian scream of megalopolises? But it's been years since he's had that stentorian scream, he lost it before he started recording "Euphoria Morning" (a really great album, let them say what they will...) the good Cornell. In fact, the track, "Black Rain" comes from the recording sessions of the Sound's most hardcore album, such "Badmotorfinger," where our frontman reaches inhuman vocal peaks and the four give their absolute best, even better than Dixan gel pills directly in the washing machine.. They rip out stains with their riffs and screams, not just locks..

Soft intro like "Searching With My Good Eye Closed", followed by an exquisitely overflowing guitar riff, a fascinating yet dubious tempo, and then that voice, always an immense pleasure (at least for my ears talking..) to hear in something not déjà vu.. The rhythmic section has always been up to the level of a track on a field of fresh eggs, with a constantly immense, surgical, and sometimes disconcerting Cameron (sometimes I wonder why Pearl Jam wanted him.. Oh well.. Mysteries of the Universe). Blasts of hard rock, psychedelia, stoner echoes, emotion for sale in a single track that brings back the magic of a period that changed the history of rock forever, for better or worse.. You decide..

And "Telephantasmi" to everyone..
