THE REVIEW

Son of Skam is a band that, I am convinced, is little known in Italy as well as in other countries. They play crossover and are a group of five rappers, drawing a bit from the Wu-Tang Clan, a bit from the New York underground scene.

It might be my characteristic (shared by many) of having so many prejudices that pushed me to borrow this album from my cousin. I didn't trust myself to risk wasting money on an album of this musical genre. The reason is that, currently, since Zack left, the genres involving rap, crossover, hip hop, are commercially practiced, not all of them, perhaps. Look at all that crap MTV offers you every single day, with Pharrell or whatever his name is, or Eminem, or Snoop Dogg. They call that rap! Or what to say about Limp Bizkit? That would be crossover unfortunately.

In light of all this, I didn't trust buying 'Five Borough Manhunt'. Anyway, I'm here to review an album. It starts with two fairly nice songs: "No escape" and "Five Borough Manhunt". Powerful electric guitars, presumably protest words, stadium chants like "Chi non salta milanista è... è...!", especially in the song Five Borough Manhunt, in the chorus. Track three. Comment: what a bore. Track four. Comment: what is this shit à la Snoop Dogg feat. Pharrell? Track five. Comment: what a bore. Track six. Comm... Track six! What the... my stereo is jammed!!! Oh, no! It's five songs??? Just five meager songs??? Not even Uncle Fred (Durst) could screw us over like this!

I mean, five songs, but in reality, it would be two because Monkeys (track three) is something that never ends. Tale of Brenda (track four) reminds me so much of Snoop Dogg and the whole horde of men of color drowning in dough. Then the last track is a boring song made with no effort, no will, no nothing. Who knows, maybe the creator of these atrocities got up one morning and felt like composing a half-assed song, blindfolded. "Well, yes! Meanwhile, it's all money earned, coming from all those kids who love crossover but don't even know who Zack De La Rocha is".

In conclusion, I feel disgust towards anyone who will read this review and will even just go to learn about this mockery of a band. Don't waste your time or money on Son of Skam, another thing (because that's how they should be called: things) that eats money and, above all, the love for a musical genre that died along with Rage Against The Machine.
