It's summer! Reminding us with the bows and umbrellas on cocktails is the latest song by the artist SOLO, “Something (You Don't Need)”, which exactly debuts like a bowling ball set on rolling fast down the lane, aimed at making a strike, technically overthrowing and tossing every resistance and heaviness of our mind&body, targeting to conquer through its electro-acoustic and electronic groove the neural system of listeners, turning them into free kites swirling in the sky while they follow the high arabesques above the spacious beach, maybe just before sunset.

SOLO is the stage name adopted by musician Giuseppe Galato, a versatile and tireless young man, full of inventiveness and passion for music: The Bordello Rock 'n' Roll Band is another personal project, rock-oriented.

The industrious one has realized various works, the elektronische musik of Stati emozionali and the psychedelia of “Don't Shoot The Piano Player (It's All in Your Head)”, already widely reviewed by music critics, even overground, and is preparing to cross over, indeed, it is quite rapidly progressing towards the Paradise of our young musical personalities.

Just a single “Something (You Don't Need)”, yet it says more than it should, hinting at the sounds of the album to come, the future “The Importance of Words (Songs of Love, Anti-Capitalism and Mental Illness)”.

So it is presumed to be characterized by the imaginative creative and melodic touch released here, developed to give wings, much better than the famous energy drink, relying on the irresistible dual vocal trail, slenderly melancholic - excellent is the alternation with the singer Nobody - and the catchy multicolored dance rhythm.

Out comes a soft drug song, as one tends to willingly linger in that entrepop created (a Frenchism invented by me) that gently wafts in the brain, like the warm Ghibli, capable of lifting the miniskirt of our rigid framework, the social superstructure, nullifying its gravity in motion.

«When Lup Ino asked me to write something for him initially, I invented a certain thing. The arrangement by Cosmo, however, aimed for a more modern sound. The final version, arranged and entirely played by me, veers more towards dream pop, synth pop, and dance territories, where electroacoustic and electronic mix».

The song, dynamic and moody, born under a good creative star, tackles social and cultural themes related to the image each sews onto themselves to be accepted by others. A contradictory point of view, perhaps debatable, as the look borrowed from Brandon Lee in the role of The Crow suits SOLO perfectly, although the makeup was used only to promote the single “Don't Shoot the Piano Player”; instead, for “Something” he assumes another mask, inspired by Cesare from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Varied and interesting symbolisms also tied to the graphics.

Probably, though, only great personalities do not need to conform to en vogue styles and looks, rather they launch them, albeit these fashions certainly signify adherence to a current movement and yet testify to its transit.

Meanwhile, yes, there is indeed a need for a well-crafted and magnetic track such as “Something (You Don't Need)”, filled with acoustic and electric guitars, as well as digital effects, two basses, and one constant bass drum, which enrich the SOLO-Nobody dialogic base and enhance its balanced musicality, allowing for a harmonious takeoff.

The video, directed by Alberto Cammarano and interpreted by Giulia Sarubbi, reprises and emphasizes the concept, furthermore significantly broadens the artistic impressions of SOLO.
