THE REVIEW

Take a French girl full of zest with a very sexy English accent, give her an out-of-tune acoustic guitar, a few beer bottles, and adorn her with hippie accessories: you'll get Soko.

Semi-unknown in Italy (but appreciated in France both as a singer and an actress), I noticed this bohemian girl in action at the opening of uncle Doherty's concert (and luckily the ticket was gifted to me, since I won't even tell you in what condition Caterina Mossa's ex-boyfriend was): I arrived while she was already performing her songs, just her on stage, hair down and tousled, a bottle of Heineken on the stool, acoustic guitar and worn-out jeans; she seemed to have arrived directly from home ("Mom, I'm going to strum some songs and I'll be back").

She blew us all away with her simplicity and confidence (despite looking only 16 years old) and this is what I thought: "Couldn’t it have been Pete to open the concert for this doll??"

Delightful. A voice not exactly in tune, but light, sweet, delicate. I downloaded her only album dated 2007 after barely two days (when my crush was at its peak) and my appreciation was confirmed.

This young singer-songwriter is content with just a guitar, nothing else is needed: ironic and bold lyrics (Shitty Day, My Ex-Boyfriends, I Think I'm Pregnant), multifaceted acoustic songs and lots of pop energy seasoned with an adorable voice.

But are you still there? Come on, go download Soko, otherwise... Suka!
