THE REVIEW

Rousseau: "Do you like cats?"

Boswell: "No"

Rousseau: "I was sure of it. It is a sign of character. In this, you have the human instinct of despotism. People don't like cats because the cat is free and will never adapt to being a slave. It doesn't do anything on your command, like other animals do."

Boswell: "Not even a chicken obeys orders"

Rousseau: "It would obey you if you knew how to make yourself understood by it. A cat understands you perfectly well but does not obey you"

Snapcase are like cats, they don't obey, they do what they like; they play, sweat, scream, and strum guitars. (it's as if Bruno Vespa played not to open the door)

Designs For Automotion, thirty minutes and a few seconds. It's as if the entire record was one big track, everything stays on the same frequencies, the record advances but the listener doesn't perceive it. This record does not enrich itself with new sounds, they do what they've always done, with the difference that this time they do it better, it's so beautiful to hear that distorted guitar becoming increasingly insistent that you no longer pay attention to the words, you let yourself be carried away. It's clear that they are playing at being Fugazi, but they can't succeed, no one ever could. You might be thinking that it's negative (logically) for a band to try to emulate another, often it is, but if you try to emulate Fugazi it's never a bad thing, there's always an underlying respect.

Designs For Automotion must be listened to. Disobey your daily listens and listen to it, after all, it's only half an hour..

Summary by Bot

Snapcase's Designs For Automotion is a powerful, intense hardcore album that stays true to its roots while delivering a refined sound. The album's continuous, insistent guitar work creates a captivating experience, reminiscent of Fugazi but with its own identity. Listeners are encouraged to embrace its raw energy and give it full attention despite its short thirty-minute length.
