THE REVIEW

After intense reviews, problems and various mischiefs, it's time for fun... get yourself some sandwiches, cold beer and a nice funnel (just a few minutes ago I had written the review of 7 Seconds, but now let's pretend nothing happened), invite a good bunch of people and pretend you're at a college party like in the movies. Oh, I almost forgot, bring along "Destroyed" by Sloppy Seconds!!!!!

Does the album cover remind you of something? Thinking about it, it's very similar to "Destroyer" by Kiss, the only difference is that instead of the Detroit rock superheroes, we find four obese and shabby individuals from Indianapolis. For those who took the matter too seriously, remember, Sloppy Seconds are a parody of themselves so don't worry about them!

A strange thing is that once you insert the CD in question, it is impossible to remove it from the player, it's pure fun, stupid punk rock, crazy, carefree but well-played. "Destroyerd" is the band's first album, released in 1989 for Toxic Shock, a mix between Ramones punk, dirty rock 'n' roll, and beer fest choruses. Obviously, I cannot judge this record as a milestone in music, but I believe that Sloppy Seconds themselves never aimed for this. Among remakes of old songs and distortions of serious topics, the band has carved out its own niche of wild fans. Some track titles can say it all: "I Don’t Wanna Be a Homosexual", "If I Had a Woman", and "So Fucked Up", okay, you get the idea.

So, everything I've written might suggest to some reader "this is the last album I would get," but no! These crazies are really strong, their music flows well, it engages you, and on top of that, they are good musicians too (Pat Metheny fans, please don't take me literally), they know how to do their job well, meaning their job of putting me in a good mood while listening to rock.

Seventeen tracks averaging two and a half minutes each, a hammering drum, a guitar that never uses the clean channel, an annoying voice, and some family quarrels recorded: this is pure revelry!

I have nothing more to say, as I've already mentioned about twenty times, this album puts a smile on your face and I don’t see it as a small thing. If you are also passionate about punk-rock and love parties with sandwiches and beer, run and buy the album!!!!!!
