The global success of Queens Of The Stone Age by Josh Homme—let it be known—is the offspring of the guitarist's experience with Kyuss, icons and masters of stoner-rock, who disbanded in 1997. From that split, this project Slo Burn was born at the hands of singer John Garcia. And fortune was decidedly less kind. We were left with this only EP of four tracks, a prelude to a swiftly occurring dissolution that gave rise to Unida, an interesting band but only capable of producing one album remembered by few, before good old Garcia continued his story immersed in the dust of rock with bands like Vista Chino and Hermano. Amid a highly compact wall of sound typical of stoner and a few guitar solos, we hear the frontman's voice almost in the distance, as if with that music we were driving a supercar at full throttle and had a travel companion singing in the back seat. An effect that nonetheless is pleasant and sufficiently "stoned" to put you in the right mood, all complemented by the gem "Pilot The Dune," which reminds us what a beautiful thing Kyuss was..
