After Kyuss, for Garcia it could have been an immense disappointment, given his particularly fiery character, but in reality, Amusing The Amazing is a successful album that combines pure stoner with '70s garage, with inspirations from Stooges and MC5.
The short but very sunny album begins with a track called "The Prizefighter" in which Garcia vocalizes after a brief garage start and finishes the track after two minutes of intense grunge-stoner.
Subsequently, "Muzezli" is a stoner piece in the style of Kyuss's Blues For The Red Sun, and "Pilot the Dune" is a warm, desert track rich in noise improvisations and Sabbathian explosions.
Finally, "July" brings grunge closer to Soundgarden, after an infernal drowning.
An album not comparable to the early Kyuss, but highly expressive.
