Many believe that the first album by Slipknot is their self-titled one from 1999, but it's important to correct those who believe this because the first album by Slipknot, even if semi-official, is "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat." from 1996. I don't know why this album is considered semi-official, maybe because the songs aren't sung by Corey Taylor but by another person of Italian origin (I don't remember the name).
The CD opens with the song "Slipknot" and continues with "Gently," which I think is the version that's on "Iowa." The third song on this album is "Do Nothing (Bitchslap)," which is an absurd song, as in the first part it unveils good Brutal Death Metal and in the second part, it almost mixes Jazz with Electronica, and the results are better left uncommented. The next two songs, "Only One" & "Tattered And Torn," I'm not sure how to define them; anyway, I don't like them. Song number 6 is "Confessions," and it's not terrible, but in my opinion, the most Rock or Metal song of the CD, along with the first "Slipknot," is "Some Feel." This is a nice song. The closing songs of the CD are "Killers Are Quiet" & "Dogfish Rising." Of these two, the most inexplicable is the second one, because it doesn't make sense. For 9.52 minutes there's the usual sound with someone talking.
In short, this CD sucks quite a bit, except for "Slipknot" & "Some Feel." If you don't find it at your trusted music store, don't worry because you're not missing anything. Instead, buy their self-titled from 1999, "Iowa" from 2001, "Vol.3: (The Subliminal Verses)" from 2004, and the live album from 2005 "Slipknot: 9.0 Live."
This is an excellent CD, made up of perfect experimental songs.
If by some stroke of luck, you find it in a music store, grab it immediately even if you don’t like the genre.
