THE REVIEW

The 1986 was the golden year for extreme heavy metal, and numerous albums were released, such as Metallica's "Master of Puppets," Megadeth's "Peace Sell's...," Kreator's "Pleasure to Kill," Sepultura's "Morbid Visions," Possessed's "Seven Churches," and many more... but among these is also the legendary Slayer's "Reign in Blood." These are the fastest, most extreme, and heaviest albums of that year.

"Reign in Blood" is Slayer's third studio album and is one of the heaviest they have ever produced. Additionally, it is considered by many as their masterpiece. The heaviness, brutality, and speed of this album are thanks to that monstrous (in a positive sense) drummer Dave Lombardo, who, using the double bass pedal, makes his drumming powerful yet at the same time precise and effective. The guitars of Hanneman and King display fast and aggressive riffs that have that "dark" and "gloomy" atmosphere, and the solos are relentless and razor-sharp. Tom Araya's singing is a very unsettling "luciferian" scream. The ten songs on this album are short but devastating, and how can one not analyze "Angel of Death," "Postmortem," and "Raining Blood"? These are the absolute best songs of this album, the first being a masterpiece where Lombardo delivers ear-shattering drumming and the solo is epic. The second is ruthless and brutal, however, it lacks a solo which you would never expect from Hanneman and King, but this is replaced with an effective instrumental section. And the closing song, in my opinion, alongside "Angel of Death," reaches the compositional peak of the band and the final solo is so distorted it sounds like agony.

In conclusion, "Reign in Blood" is a milestone of thrash metal that is considered by many as an inspiration for numerous death metal bands.

29min and 40 sec of speed, fury, and massive technical prowess!

'Angel of Death,' inspired by the 'achievements' of the SS doctor, Joseph Mengele, represents one of the cornerstones of Slayer’s discography.

"Angel Of Death kicks in: the riff is one of the most damnably granite and devastating in metal history, a pure frontal assault on the listener's ears."

"Reign in Blood is one of the most ingenious, most devastating, most powerful works ever conceived by the human mind."

Reign In Blood, or, the masterpiece of extreme music, the masterpiece of Slayer, the greatest manifesto of violence and rage that the human mind has ever conceived.

To be so-called metalheads and not own this album would be like not having one of those albums that encapsulate within themselves the very concept of 'Metal'.
