Today is Sunday and I shouldn't be writing to rest. But for a masterpiece like "Reign in Blood" by Slayer, I will make an exception.
"Reign in Blood" is the milestone of thrash metal. In fact, many black and thrash metal albums have been inspired by "Reign in Blood" to achieve success. It should also be noted that "Reign in Blood" is an old album, and when it was released back in 1985, it should have caused quite a stir. Indeed, Slayer are still recognized today as "the most violent in metal," and listening to one of their albums is truly engaging. "Reign in Blood" is their third album, full of fascinating and aggressive songs; their style is very violent, which unfortunately not everyone can appreciate. But if you are among those who are not intimidated by fast guitars and an extremely aggressive voice, then this is the album for you!
My favorite tracks from this album are:
1) Angel of Death (a very aggressive and violent song)
2) Post Mortem (which doesn't end but leads into...)
3) ...Raining Blood (which is the most violent song of all those made by Slayer)
For today, I’d say that's all. Have a good Sunday, and as always: HEAVY METAL IS THE LAW!
29min and 40 sec of speed, fury, and massive technical prowess!
'Angel of Death,' inspired by the 'achievements' of the SS doctor, Joseph Mengele, represents one of the cornerstones of Slayer’s discography.
"20 minutes of pure thrash!"
"If Metal is a negative poem, then this CD is a precious source."
"Angel Of Death kicks in: the riff is one of the most damnably granite and devastating in metal history, a pure frontal assault on the listener's ears."
"Reign in Blood is one of the most ingenious, most devastating, most powerful works ever conceived by the human mind."
Reign In Blood, or, the masterpiece of extreme music, the masterpiece of Slayer, the greatest manifesto of violence and rage that the human mind has ever conceived.
To be so-called metalheads and not own this album would be like not having one of those albums that encapsulate within themselves the very concept of 'Metal'.
Uh-oh! It has been pointed out to us that this review also appears (in whole or in part) on truemetal.it and we have been asked to remove it.
