LA RECENSIONE

I had read an interview with Eddie Antonini, where he specified that the sound of Wings would be less "power" and more "hard rock"; furthermore, it would benefit from a slightly higher budget in terms of production and sound quality.

Indeed, all these aspects can be found in this latest effort from Skylark, although not distinctly (in particular, the production, while better than the other albums, is – in my opinion – insufficient). Despite the scathing reviews I've read elsewhere, I don't agree with a wholly negative assessment of this album, or at least not entirely.

Although it lacks a bit of originality, it is pleasant to listen to. "Rainbow in the dark" is a perfect example of melodic hard-rock "made in USA". Noteworthy is the cover of Def Leppard's "When love and hate collide," although it's a bit soporific.

I won't dwell too much since it's not a masterpiece, nor is it the best from Skylark. But given that recently there have been few even just decent releases, it's good to give Wings an opportunity.

A final positive note concerns the cover, which thankfully no longer represents "the temple courtesans," preventing previous buyers from having to hide it to avoid looking like starving perverts.

We await to see what our guys will do in the future. In the meantime, we appreciate their honesty in letting us know that although they've achieved good results in the past, that wasn't what they wanted anymore. The power phase was over. Promise kept, there's nothing more to say about that!
