THE REVIEW

Once upon a time, there were Skunk Anansie... and the music played, and Skin was a bomb, and I liked rock. Once upon a time there were Skunk Anansie with all their grit, they wanted to break everything, they wanted to be alternative, they knew how to make people move... they have disbanded! No one knows why though, maybe because Skin's self-celebration burst out everywhere, because she wanted to prove she was first and foremost a fascinating woman, a woman with all her attributes who also lives for love; she did it with a medley of melodramatic songs from her first solo album, which she could definitely have spared us.
I want to remember them, because they drove me crazy, with those underground screams, with those distorted guitars, with those controversial lyrics, and with those protest songs... I miss them!
I wanted to present you their best work, the last one... Post Orgasmic Chill where they give a touch of secrecy and mystery to their songs, and where Skin, in addition to the usual raucous screams, inserts sweet and more friendly tones, sometimes almost breathless.

Sometimes it happens that certain albums from the past represent a part of your growth, of a particular change in you; it had been a long time since I listened to this CD, now my music is sweeter, more sophisticated, but when I listened to it again, it felt like I could touch my rebellions, the wanting to be extreme at all costs... obviously, maturity has arrived, and now as an 18-year-old, I understand certain of my attitudes and can identify them as wrong... but I'm happy to have made them, they have marked who I am now, and who I will be one day.
This album was the most representative of that period, when I preferred to be totally direct, when I had no qualms, when I didn't think about what I said, maybe you might say when I was much more spontaneous... yes, maybe yes, but at a certain point you realize the consequences of what you say, and that certain things you have lost...
However, in conclusion, I recommend this album to those who want to free their soul from good feelings, songs like "Hotel TV", "Charly Big Potato", "You'll Follow Me Down", "Cheap Honesty" and one above all "Secretly" will leave a mark after a more in-depth listening, as they did with me.

Skunk Anansie

Skunk Anansie are a British rock band formed in London in 1994, fronted by vocalist Skin with Ace (guitar), Cass (bass), and Mark Richardson (drums). They rose to prominence in the 1990s with politically charged, hard-hitting alt-rock across Paranoid & Sunburnt, Stoosh, and Post Orgasmic Chill. After splitting in 2001, they reunited in 2009 and continue to release and tour.
