Since I have nothing else to do, I've decided to review this EP by Scrillesso. As I was checking the list of ALL the albums released so far in 2013, I also discovered this album, and upon a close analysis, it turned out to be the best among all (and of course, in 5 days only 4 crappy pop punk releases and some dubstep have come out). You might be wondering "What, Skrillex? That kind of emo who's been riding the wave for years by pumping garbage through speakers? That sellout who's defined as dubstep but is actually brostep and even that sucks?" Yes, precisely him.
You should never judge an album before listening to it, and in this case, the surprise was significant. Nothing to shout a miracle about, but there's something good there. Then, honestly, I have a bit of space left, and so I ask myself: why are we always dependent on America to make music? Why, even when we listen to quality music, it's always American or English? Is it too much to ask for some group to start making Italian music based on our musical roots and not just imitating post rock, post punk, and alternative? But most importantly, why do our record labels fund this crap? All great questions, to which I won’t answer, and let’s move on to our Skrillex.
The EP consists of 3 tracks. The first: The Reason. Honestly, the worst moment of the record, not because the track itself is bad, but because the voice underneath repeating "Reason" over and over is awful. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of these synth-distorted voices, Archangel by Burial already makes me sick just for the voice. I know, everyone says it’s beautiful, but to me, it's the least pleasant moment of Untrue.
The second: Scary Bolly Dub. A bit of dancehall dub kicks off energetically with a driving rhythm and offbeat reggae chords. Of course, we're not here to review a masterpiece, but in itself, the track is very danceable and pleasant. And look, I’ve tried making songs with FL Studio, it’s not that easy, you know.
The third: Leaving. The most discussed track. Already from the first beats of the drums, it evokes the good old Burial. Then comes THE SUPER SYNTHESIZED VOICE!! ARGH!!! How I hate those damn voices! Then the voice in this song is even worse than Burial's, something unbearable really. The old fox Skrillex takes someone else’s work and makes it commercial. The piano sampling is the peak, almost mimicking the worst of Rap. But anyway, gritting your teeth, you can listen to it, just pretend the voice isn't there.
Result: Well, Skrillex, you try but don’t apply yourself. Knowing you for the crap you usually feed us, you’ve made great progress. I give you a 6 with reservations, but if you release a crappy album, I’ll fail you, okay!
