1000 Autunni

"1000 Autunni" is elusive. No matter how many listens I dedicate to it, I can't grasp its essence, so well hidden that it makes me doubt its existence. Its charm, tinted by peculiar and varied sounds, continuously calls me back to listen, leaving a sense of pleasure never satisfied; a delicacy that doesn't fill the stomach, a painting hung far away that calls the observer in its direction and when approached, mysteriously hides its most intimate details, blurs, deceives.

If man's nature pushes him to anchor himself to concepts and situations that provide him with a certain emotional security and stability when relating to the irrational or the invisible, in the same way, I will cling to the public health that will offer me a good remedy against the uncommon Canterbury-style influence.

So, if few certainties echo many doubts, they reveal themselves strongly against certain questions; how long will I have to wait to know if it's a masterpiece? Is the taste for timbral detail, compositional form, the arrangements just "makeup" on an expressionless face?

And if unanswered questions have always fascinated me, ready answers, without too many questions, help to live better.

Paolo "Ske" Botta is the author of the compositions on this album, where he plays the keyboards, accompanied by fourteen other musicians, many already part of the excellent Yugen project and some others coming from Camembert.

Those familiar with Yugen's "Labirinto d'acqua" will find some familiarity in certain timbres and some stylistic solutions, "1000 Autunni" however presents itself more rarefied, less abundant, but not for this reason simpler.

Canterbury was mentioned... but no jazz-rock and nothing Wyatt-like, that's why I invoked National Health. The comparison helps a lot, finding contact points in the extraordinary compositional structures and distance; if National Health were musicians full of personality, in "1000 Autunni" this ego is not perceived, it cancels itself in favor of the collective.

"1000 Autunni" is an Italian album, but by its nature, it transcends borders, becomes universal.

"1000 Autunni" is an album from 2011, but sounds timeless, full of memories and propelled towards the future.
