So, let me start by saying this is my first review, so please don't hold it against me if it's a bit unclear, being mainly driven by the emotions of the album I'll be reviewing...

That said, let's get into the actual review of this (beautiful) album by Ska-p "Lagrimas y gozos". This album marks their return to making music after a good 6 years from the successful "Que cora la voz"... but something has changed... or rather, it has changed compared to their last work because this "Lagrimas y gozos" recalls perhaps their most beautiful album, "Planeta eskoria".

We are faced with a more mature sound compared to their usual, a sound not entirely digestible at first listen also because almost exclusively punk-rock tracks like "Wellcome to hell" or "Intifada" no longer exist here, but we have in front of us songs that perfectly mix classic ska with rock and punk. The only example of a truly intense song from start to finish is precisely the title track "Crimen sollecitationis," which adds choirs and very symphonic bases to their music...

"Ni fu ni fa" and "La colmena" unfold with very similar targets, namely choruses to sing with fists raised against the sky and the rest of the track is very ska for crazy group dances at concerts... It's a different story for "Fuego y miedo", "Los hijos bastardos de la globalizacion", "Que puedo decir", and "Vandalo", which are calmer songs but with a very marked melody. "Los hijos..." acts somewhat like the ballad of the CD just like "Mis colegas" did for "Que cora la voz"... while "Que puedo decir" has a very moving trumpet interlude accompanied by ska guitar...

A separate discussion for "Wild Spain" which at first didn't seem like much to me but now I consider it the best song on the CD. The topic of the song is the bullfight, and the song with its atmosphere brings us right to the Spanish arenas where this senseless massacre takes place... truly irresistible chorus and verses...

The other 4 songs, except for "El imperio caerá" (not very exceptional anyway), didn't strike me much, but precisely because of this artistic maturation of ska p, I am sure that with more careful listens even those songs will become anthems... this has actually become the strong point of ours if once they made albums destined to tire in the long run, I think this one can last over time.

Needless to talk about the contents of the album, as usual, aimed at social protest... thank goodness there are still groups like this...

That said, I can't wait to see them live because I'm sure this album will make many dance, put many in a good mood, and move many as an ska-p album has never done before!! DOWNLOAD IT... no, I mean buy it :D
