There is a band that alone represents a large part of the European history of Death Metal: the Dutch Sinister.
They have never succumbed to "commercial" temptations over a career spanning almost thirty years.
Always and only freaking Death Metal. "Syncretism" is the thirteenth album from these authentic veterans of sonic slaughter.
Usual appropriately blasphemous cover.
Usual themes against any religion.
Melodies (in the heaviest sense of the term) infernal, dizzying rhythms, dark riffs full of malice, sudden and psychotic accelerations that cut you in half: these are the exaggerated ingredients of a tormented, cynical album that does not know the word respite in its oppressive temporal development.
"Splatter" (oh my, what a term!!) nine tracks for almost fifty frantic, chaotic minutes. But it is organized chaos given the technical prowess of the band. The drummer's performance is simply terrifying.
Credit to vocalist Adrie "Aad" Kloosterwaard, the only one remaining from the original line-up: a possessed demon capable of spewing out a massively heavy, primordial, putrid, offensive growl.
Sinister tales from the dark abyss.
Nothing else is needed; it's pointless to highlight even a single track. Death Metal album of 2017...DIABOLICAL SUMMONING...
Diabolos Rising 666.
